Deformed - Everything Is A Fun Torture
I have become quite fond of the Polish Death Metal scene as of late. Although I don't claim to be some kind of expert on it, I do enjoy the vast majority of what comes out of Poland. As a result, I was quite excited about DEFORMED. From their cover, it was obvious that they played Grindcore, which was only sweetening the deal even more.

Once I put the disc on, however, I was quite disappointed. "Prelude" starts the disc off with the obligatory movie sample, and then a slow, boring riff, which repeats itself for the remainder of the song. This then turns into "Bullet In My Head" a fast paced Grind assault, which is again, boring. It incorporates dual vocals, one low and one high, typical Grind guitars and a drum machine. The rest of the disc continues on in the same fashion, each song sounding more or less like the previous one, to the point where the only indication that a new song has started is the silent pause in between tracks.

Although there are some parts of the disc that are somewhat interesting, it is their attempt to sound more extreme that fails. Ultimately, these attempts just come off as ridiculous. (Online December 31, 2002)
