Willow Wisp - Continuation Of Deterioration
Well the band claim to be extremely diverse and impossible to categorise but I find Black Metal suits them just fine. Despite the hype this demo is a pretty good piece of CRADLE OF FILTH inspired Black Metal with some nice Gothic elements thrown in and a little bit of other styles are noticeable from time to time but nothing overly groundbreaking.

The production is too raw for the style as the band is nothing like DARKTHRONE for example. I would however like to compliment the band on their energy as the riffs seem fresh and well executed for the most part even if they are sloppy at times.

Their Gothic elements and the drums in particular are what suffer the most from the poor production effort and this hinders this release not allowing it to truly impress upon us how good (or not so good) the songs actually are.

The songs themselves are actually pretty good and the vocals are quite impressive. Not bad. (Online April 23, 2003)
