Eat The Gun - Kingsize
Dirty Heavy Rock between AC/DC and AMERICAN DOG. Sounds like an interesting mix? Well, then you do not have to look any further, German EAT THE GUN are here to deliver the goods to anybody, who has been craving for this sound.

"Kingsize" is the title of this almost 20 minute long EP and the quartet from Bremen does not try to impress with technical flashiness or complex songwriting, instead they shoot straight from the hip, with their earthy, dirty sound and also lyrically they take no prisoners and do not try to preach or anything, the often cited motto of "sex, drugs & rock'n'roll" is still valid with these guys and let's be honest, with this style other lyrics wouldn't even work, so no complaints here.

Sure, EAT THE GUN won't win many prizes for originality, but as long as they put this much energy into their songs, this is not a minus. And there they have all the right ingredients together, the gritty voice of singer Hendrik, the crunchy guitar work of Simon and the tight rhythm section comprising Phil and Gereon and an upbeat, energetic song like "High Heeled Love" more or less sums EAT THE GUN up quite nicely, hehe. But also the powerful "Welcome To The Show", which is a very well placed opener, should be mentioned, just like the, behold, ballad "The Whole World".

20 minutes can be damn long, but in the case of "Kingsize" they are over very quickly and even though I could not hear too much, I am pretty sure that EAT THE GUN should work greatly live. But until then go and check out "Kingsize", you should not regret it, if you like your Rock crunchy and snotty! (Online July 3, 2003)
