Razor - Violent Restitution
In time for the Thrash-revival (you may laugh now...) I'd like to introduce the younger fans, who loved the latest albums of KREATOR, SODOM, DESTRUCTION or DELIRIOUS, to a somewhat older classic: "Violent Restitution" of the Canadian cult-thrashers RAZOR.

I could name their whole discography as recommendation, but it has grown damn difficult to get these old gems. Especially not with the big chains! Wait, I found this album in one, for less than 20 Marks. So my tormented vinyl-version may rest no! Here the often misused word "cult" really applies! The Thrash-inferno is started out with the great instrumental "The Marshall Arts", what a mighty title. It then turns into "Hypertension", a thrasher par excellence! So one grenade after the other is launched, but I don't want to get into every single son, because there are no fillers. Not that RAZOR are technic-gods, no, frills would just disturb the impact of this album. Despite some slower parts this album goes straight for your throat, with all guns blazing!

All 14 songs re-define the expression "Thrash With Class". Loutishly they are thrashing and riffing through the songs as if there was no tomorrow. A rough, unpolished production fits just as perfectly! The wilful vocals of Stace "Sheepdog" McLaren are absolutely unique and his famous high-pitched screams are legendary. They already had made the older works of "Evil Invaders" or "Executioner's Song" true legends!

Why the band never had been flown to Europe to go on tour with KREATOR or SLAYER remains a mystery to me. Who knows where RAZOR could stand today. So they are THE secret tip among Thrash-gourmets. I don't know a single SLAYER-fan who has not gone nuts over RAZOR! Just like I said, this album still is easy to get and no matter what else you might find from RAZOR, arrest it!
