The story of SYMPHORCE begins in October 1998… Singer Andy B. Franck formed his own band to write songs such as "Straight From The Heart, Right Into Your Face". The band's name, a symbiosis of "Symphony" and "Force" shows Andy's preference for "game of words" and is the best expression for the musical direction and what SYMPHORCE is all about: Power and Melody!
Already a few months later, Andy presented his new band and got fantastic reception and great reviews to SYMPHORCE's first release on Noise Records. "Truth To Promises" (1999) brought them on a support tour as special guests for MERCYFUL FATE. Right after the tour Andy had to replace two members of the band. The arrival of guitarist Cedric "Cede" Dupont and bassist Dennis Wohlbold in 2000 heralded the band's most important step! Cede's razor-sharp leads, catchy melodies contrasted to Dennis´ heavy and deep growling bass grooves made SYMPHORCE unique and perfect! Andy, Cede and Dennis became a strong song writing team and one year later, the follow-up "Sinctuary" became one of the most important releases in 2000. Fans and magazines quoted SYMPHORCE as one of the most promising acts of the future! At the same time, Andy also became a member of Germanys well known Power Metal band BRAINSTORM. "I'm very proud, being a part of BRAINSTORM! SYMPHORCE is my baby, BRAINSTORM my family!"
The debut "Truth To Promises" was a favourite of the critics. With "Sinctuary", SYMPHORCE confirmed their status as a groundbreaking Power Metal band. Consequently hymns like "Holy Sin", "Until The Last" and the monumental "Freedom" are among standard favourites from them. The cover version of "Nice Dreams" by POWERMAD rounded this album perfectly. "Sinctuary" consolidated the band's reputation for coupling savage riffs with acerbic, thought-religious lyrics and led to a well-received slot!
Now, two years later, Cede also became a member of Germany's Melodic Rockers FREEDOM CALL- new skinsman Sascha Sauer and 2nd guitarist Markus Pohl gave Andy, Cede and Dennis breathing space to concentrate on new songs and work on their next studio album. But why have they waited so long? Quite simple, Andy B. Franck believes that the current line-up is the best the band ever had. In August 2002, with the help of Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, Brainstorm, Sinner), SYMPHORCE recorded their new album in the House of Music Studios in Winterbach. Produced by Andy B. Franck and Cede Dupont, this album is first quality with ambitious arrangements and technically perfection.
"phorcefulAhead"- which is their debut on Metal Blade Records - will be hailed as a result of energy and ferocity. Over the last years, the quartet established themselves as uncompromising advocates of melodic Power Metal with a very special unique stamp: "phorcefulAhead" - especially tracks like "Speak My Mind", "Unbroken" or "Slow Down", once more proved Andy's dead sure nose for great melodies combined with earthy power and great heaviness.
SYMPHORCE are now ready to open an exciting new chapter in their career! Be there and ... may the 'Phorce be with you!
