Band History - Wither (Online Apr. 2003)

Wither

WITHER found it's beginnings in 1997 when long time friends and musicians Keith Edelman and Robert Becker scraped themselves up from the desolation of a previous band and decided to tentatively try again. They recruited Keith's younger brother Jeff and his long time friend Micah Cummins. The two lads had just graduated high school, and Keith and Bobby decided it was time to indoctrinate them with the evils of Rock' n' Roll.

WITHER was really an excuse for four guys to drink and drown their sorrows in writing good music. (or was it the other way around) The four spent several years bonding, writing material, and creating their sound. WITHER finally becomes a serious venture in early 2001. At that time the foursome acquired drummer Rich Hobbs and began playing the San Diego club scene in earnest.

They've changed a lot. The music is more positive these days, and admittedly strays from the Gothic and Metal genres at times. The guys in WITHER will tell you they're into working on whatever the five of them consider good music. Anyone who owns the 8 songs debut album, "Origin", will tell you it spans quit a wide range of styles and feelings.

The band has quickly built a large and loyal fan base, bringing great live performances to such well known San Diego and Los Angles venues as Canes, The Whisky, Brick by Brick, and Dream Street. WITHER has truly been blessed with one of the most enthusiastic fan bases I've seen for an unsigned band. They just keep coming back to the shows and spreading the word about these guys. The five in WITHER are also big on getting out and promoting the band. It's all starting to pay off, as WITHER is now popping up in all sorts of places in college radio, the web and else where. The band is very excited about how quickly their profile is raising and is ready to take the world by storm, one person at a time.
