Didn't I hear some long tongues, saying that much in Metal gets more boring and predictable or that sometimes the technical skills are missing and so the formerly power of this music more and more disappears? That's all nonsense because if there is a healthy underground in many places and the there upcoming bands have such a high quality like here with !T.O.O.H.!, nobody has to be worried in any case. Indeed is the music as snarly and weird as the band name but with a bit concentration and patience one soon gets to a point, this album gets more and more intimate. But this doesn't change the fact, that one discovers new elements with every new spin.
So, "Pod Vladou Bice" holds the attention high for a long term. Besides all that facts, it is still difficult to describe the sound of the Czechs because they subtly use diverse styles but won't fit into one of them. Sure, there are Thrash and Death Metal sounds on the one hand, to add is a fat clump Grindcore, blessedly overlaid with wild stertorous and sometimes with hysterical screaming to transport all the aggression vocally, too. But what's up with the intertwined Modern Jazz and Fusion parts?
Exactly that in no case fitting influences show off the quality of their musical skills, which is even possible in the most brutal genres in Metal music. If one also remarks that all music is written by Schizoid (drums & backing vocals) and Humanoid (guitars, bass & vocals) and they also abandoned other musicians in the studio, one isn't wrong with to bow to this exceptional band. The bands, mentioned in the info sheet, like C.S.S.O., CEPHALIC CARNAGE, GORGUTS or MACABRE can all be named as fingerposts but also fans of DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA or MASTIC SCUM should appreciate this.
Like I said, !T.O.O.H.! exactly know what they are able of and they show off all those abilities free and easy on this record. No easy listening, but musically absolutely worthy and furthermore relentless brutal. (Online January 20, 2004)
