Temptamentum - Disciples Of The Ashen Sun
With "Disciples Of The Ashen Sun" of German Black/Death Metal combo TEMPTAMENTUM a really good self release snowed into my house during the holidays. After three demos ("Tränentanz" 1995, "A Midnight Masquerade" 1997 and "Mors Omnia Vincit" 1998) we now have the first long player. And the long time of rehearsing and refining the song writing has been worth it. The album is not the most original of its kind, but where can you find innovations still? "Don't innovate - Masturbate!" Exactly.

More importantly that the music moves you and in this case it moves a lot. Very good arrangements in the intersection between CRYPTIC WINTERMOON, DISSECTION and CRYPTIC CARNAGE, tense pants, ehm, melodies, which are not too simple, but also not too complex thread through the songs like a cold winter's breath and the good interaction between the musicians make this album a good addition of your collection.

The production also has turned out to be very well, so you cannot really make anything wrong with the purchase of this CD. A record deal should be near. You can order it for 10 Euros in Germany and 12 for the rest of the world at www.temptamentum.com or send an e-mail to: info@temptamentum.com. (Online January 30, 2004)
