Triumph - Live At The US Festival (DVD)

TRIUMPH are a Canadian Rock legend. They have been around for 20 years now and how better could you celebrate a jubilee like this than with a live DVD and live CD? Well, simply, with a live DVD that has an interview and a 40 minutes rockumentary and all of that in a quality that is just…just…WOW!

OK, that sounds somewhat odd now, but it is the case. I have seen a bunch of live DVDs by now and “Live At The US Festival“ is definitely one of the best that I have ever seen, even more so, if you consider that this concert has been recorded in 1983, for the sound and picture quality is just great and the songs, well, they can fully compete with them!

But let’s start at the beginning. The whole thing has been recorded on the US Festival in Glen Helen Park, roundabout 50 km south east of Los Angeles, in front of the small, but nice crowd of just 500 000 people, which is pretty remarkable and which should send icy showers down every musician’s back.

Who knows TRIUMPH knows that this trio has two singers in guitarists Rik Emmett and drummer (!) Gil Moore, who both are great and here the whole band does a gig that many other bands should take as an example. The setlist is great, as mentioned the sound and picture quality is not only amazing for the time back then, the band is showing an energy that you will find only rarely and if that was not enough yet, we even get a current interview with Mike Levine and Gil Moore, two videos for “Spellbound“ and “Follow Your Heart“ and a 40 minute rockumentary that gives us a look behind the scenes of a TRIUMPH show and which will make every fan come back to this DVD many times.

The CD has the same track list plus „Follow Your Heart“ as a bonus.

If you like the Rock of the Eighties or maybe even TRIUMPH in particular, then you have no excuse, absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to get this DVD! No, no contradiction! (Online February 21, 2004)
