Mötley Crüe - The Dirt!
Mötley Crüe - The Dirt! Confessions Of The Worlds Most Notorious Rock Band! Written by Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx with Neil Strauss

This is the life of MÖTLEY CRÜE, the heaviest drinking, hardest fighting and most oversexed and arrogant band in the world. Their unbelievable exploits are the stuff only they could have survived becoming Rock'n'Roll kings and living life to the fullest and then some. "They screwed the hottest chicks, fought the bloodiest fights, knew the world's biggest drugs dealers and spent time inside of every jail cell from California to Japan". They have lived life to its extreme, fulfilling their greatest dreams and creating their own deathly tragedies. "There is an unspoken law in Rock'n'Roll that goes: What happens on the road, stays on the road." Nikki, Vince, Tommy and Mick either weren't aware of that particular rule or just didn't care because the truth has now been told. Everything you could possibly want to know about life with MÖTLEY CRÜE and a whole lot more is told in "The Dirt". MÖTLEY CRÜE lived religiously by the three commandments of the '80s Rock star - Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll and in the process seemed to have remembered countless memories of each others drunken escapades or drug frenzied tirades documented here in black and white for the world to read. With the announcement late in the book of movie to be done one has to wonder is a 2 hour movie enough time to bring this awesome book to the big screen or is there need for a 6 hour mini series to bring this 423 page book to life in the graphic way it is told by the bad boys of Rock. Be advised - "The Dirt" is not for the squeamish. For those of us who believed we had seen it all - compared to these guys, we have seen nothing. I don't want to really give away every thing in the book but I will tell you some of the amazing mind boggling stories that had me wondering what type of drug concoction created these stories like:

- When the band toured with Ozzy Osbourne and witnessed the Prince Of Darkness snort a line of ants off the ground while wearing a woman's dress and drinking the urine of Nikki Sixx

- When Tommy's girlfriend (charmingly nicknamed Bullwinkle) did the unspeakable in the hotel room in front of the guys. This part you will need to read, as I am not going to re-write the event.

- The stories of members of the band wrapping burritos around their genitals so their girlfriends wouldn't smell the scent of other women on them.

- Axl Rose challenging Vince Neil to a fight and then chickening out after Vince clubbed Izzy Stradlin after an incident involving someone's girlfriend.

These stories were only the gentler side of the book and all I can say is that "The Dirt" is one of the greatest Rock'n'Roll reads available out there. The real bonus to "The Dirt" is that you get the story directly from the horse's mouth. A cast of extra mouths as well. "Everyone from former manager Doc McGhee to short lived Vince Neil replacement John Corabi are quoted in the book telling the stories the way that they actually took place". John Corabi, who took over as vocalist when Neil was tossed or quit, writes, "Everywhere these guys went, disaster followed them like a black cloud. I was never in trouble before I joined the band, but now it was fistfights, drama and police practically every day."

Part 2 of "The Dirt" is apparently in the works and believe me I will be waiting eagerly for it to hit the stands. (Online January 21, 2004)
