Acheron - Rebirth: Metamorphosing Into Godhood

I had been really looking forward to the new ACHERON album, but as is generally known, the devil is a squirrel and is in the details. So the listening pleasure wore away quite quickly. The high pitched sound alone already galls the CD without end. And the only songs that actually convince are the two gems “Xomaly” and “The Kindred”, which already are known from the “Xomaly” EP” and”Betrayed (A Broken Pact)”, which starts out doomy, but after the second chorus speeds ahead, while the rest of the songs just sounds too uninspired.

If everything was the first try of a newcomer band, I would say: “OK folks, you can build on this material.” But from a veteran formation such as ACHERON? But the biggest impudence the Satanists have unleashed with the ultra nerving “The 9th Gate”. An artificially prolonged tone, with which you can’t only drive prisoners of war mad, but generally every lover of music close to vomiting. You really invested some effort in this album, gentlemen, congratulations for the fan rip off. So much effort will be rewarded, of course, therefore 4 points. (Online March 2, 2004)
