Every magazine or fanzine that has at least one contributor, who likes US Power Metal, praises the name NASTY SAVAGE and the self-titled debut as if there was no tomorrow. Now the next writer comes and joins in the tenor. Behind the rather non-descript cover motif (strong band logo on black background) opens up a musical landscape of the superlatives.
Rough riff ranges pile up into unchartered heights, a cold wind whips the wild sea and the soil seems to be anything but fertile at first look. Not exactly the right lands for sweet water Vikings, meaning standard Metalheads, but you have to be born a highlander, right? And still this soil has everything that the Metal Warrior needs to survive. Or phrased differently: Who takes the necessary time to get into this CD will be rewarded with almost inimitable hymns for life.
Twisted guitar attacks, rough, but still gripping melodies, unique vocals, gruff basic direction, which will appeal to the Power Metal fan as well as the Thrasher. To make it short: Who likes innovative music with long term effect will get what he’s searching for with NASTY SAVAGE! Fans of CELTIC FROST, INFERNÄL MÄJESTY and in general obscure Metal have to get this, if you haven’t already done so. My CD also has the 1988 EP “Abstract Reality” as bonus. (Online March 8, 2004)
