Technically Alex E. would have been the right one for the new album of Alex Masi, as everything revolves around Mozart and Alex hails from Salzburg, the birth town of exactly that mister Wolfgang Amadeus… After he already had been paying homage to Johann Sebastian Bach with “In The Name Of Bach”, he now does his part with pieces by Mozart.
But who now hopes (or fears) for classical on a fiery e-guitar, will be disappointed as Alex (in this case Masi) swings the semi acoustic here, together with the e-bass, partly supported by the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, more or less surprising played very basic, the piano pieces of Mozart transcribed to guitar.
As music lover you know many of these songs already (Most of you will have heard “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik“ or “Rondo Ala Turca“, even though you might now know that it actually is Mozart) and will be served with a technically really high standing and clear performance, but, and this is a bit the problem, he does not give the songs anything new and will only appeal to die hard fans of himself, Mozart and classical music itself.
Therefore no rating and also a pretty short review… (Online March 20, 2004)
