God Dethroned - The Lair Of The White Worm

As far as nearly perfect Death/Thrash Metal goes, GOD DETHRONED from Holland are one of the, if not the most important address. All albums the band has ever recorded are works of reference for extreme Metal. I can't remember a single weak release, and that commands respect.

The newest album, "The Lair Of The White Worm", once again combines all their strength into an outstanding Death Metal album. Almost supersonic blast parts and thrashy riffing are mastered just as well as lumbering mid-tempo crushers. This time around, the guitar solos are a bit more melodical, thanks to the new guitarist. What a pleasure it is to listen to this perfectly produced and intoxicating CD after so many run-of-the-mill CDs we poor writers have to suffer through!

The focus definitely is on catchy, hypnotical choruses which, after all, serves to distinguish the band from most other Death Metal acts. Pop Death Blast Thrash is what I'd call it! But fear not, GOD DETHRONED still are a fucking brutal and extreme band! (Online November, 27 2004)
