After a series of successful EPs, splits and a full length under their belts, MISERY INDEX return with their greatest effort since their “Overthrow” debut.
All of the usual elements found on anything related to MISERY INDEX are present on “Dissent”, but this time around, they’ve found their grittier, dirtier production that was lost on “Retaliate” and everything is just a shade darker, especially on “Exception To The Ruled” and “The Imperial Ambition”, a slightly new direction that I would implore the band to explore further.
The musicianship on the disc is everything you’ve come to expect from the band, and with Kevin Talley (temporarily) reinstated on drums, how could things go wrong? The answer is: they don’t. Frantic blasts and riffs are loaded onto this disc, interspliced with stellar groove riffs that are bound to erupt any moshpit into a frenzy. How I wish Kevin would have just stayed with the band.
The quality of this release is tremendous, and will definitely wet your appetite for their next releases. (Online December 18, 2004)
