“The answer to CRADLE OF FILTH from USA” is to read in the info sheet of this band and of course, that’s totally nonsense. WYKKED WITCH are rather a bastard of a mixture of Gothic, Thrash and Power Metal with really horrible vocals of front witch Ipek. The songs themselves are at best (with a broad view) of an average quality!
But on “Nefret”, some things have changed. Ipek and his guys have learned from past negative reviews and “Nefret” is gloomier, heavier and “deathier” so to say. The heavily grooving opener “Nefret” is rather a Dark Metal track, with some special note through the very “individual” vocals of Ipek. The partly used clean vocals are by far more convincing (“Fatal Intention”). Sounds like FEAR OF GOD’s Dawn Crosby with whooping cough... The guitars are detuned and serve for some heaviness in the sound, which is good for the entire record.
Soundwise is everything okay, except from the drums. They sound a bit strange. Unfortunately, the songwriting can’t completely convince, there are not much griping, hypnotic parts like CRADLE constantly offer. But there are some good songs on it indeed – but is this enough?
