Myriads - In Spheres Without Time
This band really has been burdened with a big load already from the beginning on. The ads spoke of a masterpiece, of a band that had the potential to more or less revolutionise this genre...

Well, what the quintet around the two former TWIN OBSCENITY-members Alexander Twiss and Mona Undheim Skottene has recorded with "In Spheres Without Time" surely is no bad album... And everybody is awaiting a "but" now, and here it is: BUT at no time they come near the class of their label-mates THE SINS OF THY BELOVED or even the extra-class of TRISTANIA, also with Napalm Records...

The usual ingredients, like growls and frail female voice or the obligatory melancholic melodies can be found from the beginning to the end, but what I am missing is the inspiration, the certain something, which the five compositions lack mostly, too often the songs just pass your ears, without letting you listen up, without remaining hooked to your brain.

No, MYRIADS don't have what it takes (yet) to back up their label's big words. As genre-fan you cannot make a big mistake with this one, but still you should go for TRISTANIA first, as absolute reference in Gothic Metal, where you place MYRIADS then, comes automatically...
