Yyrkoon - Occult Medicine

Talk about a surprise! This entire album from start to finish is nothing short of a Death Metal masterpiece that desperately needs its place in the hall of most mentioned Death Metal bands, and fast (i.e. BLOODBATH, DEMONOID, VADER, AMON AMARTH). I don’t know if that’s the uh, Hall of Most mentioned Death Metal albums per se’... but you know kind of where I’m getting at.

Anyways, at first I could swear that I was listening to a second album from DEMONOID, it’s that good, if not better. In fact, I guess I might as well just say it, if you thought last years opus from DEMONOID was da shiznit like most of us here at TMO did, you will absolutely cream your panties when you hear “Occult Medicine”, so you better Scotchgard those puppies before cranking this one up, you’ve been warned.

So let’s see…You want riffs? Got em’. You want solo’s? check… You want some brutal as hell, raw (un-triggered sounds like) double bass? You got that too… You want it all to come together as one of the best Death Metal albums you may have possibly heard in years? Well it does… So I suggest you get yer ass to Osmose Productions or Red Stream and get this album already, cuz it’s gonna blow you away, no shit.

YYRKOON hail from France and are currently on Osmose Productions for at least a two album deal… wise move Osmose, so now get on with the promotion already cause these guys are smokin’… oh wait, I forgot… this is the promotion... well some of it anyways. I guess I’ll take this time right now to apologize for the time it took to get this review out, hopefully the perfect 10 will be enough to forgive.

Well, there really isn’t a whole lot more for me to say other than: Get This Album! Get This Album! Get This Album! Especially if you are a fan of bands like BLOODBATH, DEMONOID, MALEVOLENT CREATION (esp the new album “War Kvlt”), AMON AMARTH, DEATH and VADER etc, etc… Weird name, ugly cover, AWESOME Album that is sure to become one of your favourites!!
