Sabaton - Primo Victoria

Now I definitely am not a big fan of Metal like MAJESTY; but the new, second album of SABATONís got something going. MAJESTY fans should definitely check out the album, itís truly worth it. The only point of potential problems is the vocals, as the shouter sounds like a mix of Count August (GODDESS OF DESIRE) and the young RockíNíRolf (RUNNING WILD), so rather the deeper pitches. But I think that with a singer and a higher voice a lot of the appeal would get lost.

And the music does not really give much reason for criticism. Simple and melodic Metal that reminds a bit of MAY-LINN and mostly of German Metal kings (hahaha) MAJESTY. And the Swedes neither ride around on the full TRUE METAL horse, but strut their stuff with a wink. The band also uses some keyboard sounds, but keep them to the background, only the keyboard/guitar duel on ďStalingradĒ I could have done without, as RAINBOW, Malmsteen, STRATOVARIUS etc. have done it a lot better already.

Apart from that a good disc, which has its highlights in the title track, "Into The Fire" and the closer "Metal Machine". (Online April 25, 2005)
