The fact that it seemed to take an eternity to release only makes it that much sweeter once you finally get it in your hands. After a 6 year hiatus and major line up changes, QUO VADIS have finally returned.
Of course, the personnel changes and the elapsed time had an effect on QUO VADIS and while this can sometimes be disastrous, in this case is was only beneficial. The two most obvious changes are the vocals, as Stephane is much better than Arie and musically, they’ve changed from a heavy Melodic Death Metal to a Technical Death Metal band with melodic tendencies. Aside from that, the addition of Steve DiGiorgio will be instrumental in terms of press and recognition, though I have no doubt that their touring bassist, Dominic Lapointe, will have no problems picking up where Steve left off.
With new albums by CRYPTOPSY, KATALYSM, NEURAXIS, DESPISED ICON and a variety of others due out this year, I think it might finally be time for the world to see what the Quebec Metal scene is all about and “Defiant Imagination” is a great way to start things off. (Online April 26, 2005)
