Really not bad what OVERKILL deliver on their new, 14th studio album. Sound-wise the New Yorkers go back into "Under The Influence" times, meaning more bassy and pretty darn heavy! But the songs themselves, too, sound fresh and energetic, yet with the huge experience of the band showing at all times.
Embedded into a damn fat production hymns such as the equally traditional and modern “Love”, the aggressive "Loaded Rack", the ultra hymn "Bats In The Belfry", which reminds me a bit of ANNIHILATOR with its hacked up riffs, the furious "Pound Of Flesh" or the stomping, groovy “Play The Ace“, which towards the end steps on the pedal. And at the very end “Old School” is a nod towards RAMONES and co.
All in all finally a really good album by OVERKILL after all those years. Especially “Blitz” roars meaner than ever. You definitely have to check out this one! (Online May 14, 2005)
