And another Greek True Metal formation. PANDEMONIUM belt out their first (?) (and in this quality hopefully also last) CD out with their self-titled album. This is another of those albums that do not hurt and don’t really disturb you. The music is very straight and that is the big problem here, because the guys don’t really care about variation. OK, here and there they try to incorporate IRON MAIDEN-like parts, but that goes awry horribly.
Does anybody still know the German Speed Metallers S.D.I. and EMBARGO? If so, the Greeks go into a similar direction, but without reaching their class. The whole thing sounds quite nice (or would, if it wasn’t for the awful vocals), but as soon as the album is done, it’s forgotten again. The melodies? Well, roundabout as flat as a flounder. So how is the singalong factor? So poor that you couldn’t down enough beer to raise your acceptance level.
The production also is trimmed to sound old, but is still ok. Then a totally bland cover and… ack, this CD pulls me down so much that I don’t really want to try to artificially keep this review alive… (Online August 12, 2005)
