Spellbinder - Seal The Fate

Do you still think that QUEENSRYCHE were strongest on their EP and that everything had/has to be measured by LETHAL’s debut? Then I have a hot tip: SPELLBINDER, they are from the US Of A and they make exactly this kind of music! After the two CDs “Under The Spell” in 1997 and “An Invalidated Dream Pt. 1” there’s reinforcements in the form of the EP “Seal The Fate”, and they stayed true to their style. Maybe a pinch of CRIMSON GLORY, too, and there you have the noble brewage.

Hardly anyone can reach their mystic touch, their class is undeniable – unfortunately there hasn’t been a deal yet, which is unbelievable with this material. Maybe this is due to the fact that only eighties Metal freaks are addressed here, even the production sounds utterly antique! Some will love it just like that, but a bit more punch wouldn’t harm the production. Nevertheless songs such as the gigantic “Sanctuary” or especially the breathtaking epic monster in four parts make me extremely horny!

In case of a long-player I would have given an even higher rating! But yet it’s a jewel in the thicket of the underground that quickly cast its spell on me! E-Mail to Jim Springer: or at Hell Bent For Records(Online August 14, 2005)
