Holy Moses - Strength, Power, Will, Passion

These days HOLY MOSES delight us with a new studio album. And delight is the right word for it, because “Strength, Power, Will, Passion“ is a hellish club of the horned one that I definitely would not have expected. The opening triple “Angel Cry“, “End Of Time“ and “Symbol Of Spirit“ truly delivers to the Thrasher… Holy smokes, they really let the cow fly!

The remarkable thing about this album is that for the first time former guitarist Andy Classen has not participated whatsoever. Axe swinger Michael Hankel has composed the whole music and he has the old MOSES style down that it smokes! Really, folks, “Strength, Power, Will, Passion” is the ultimate successor to 1990’s stroke of genius “World Chaos“. And Holy Sabina once more screams and gargles the majority of her male grunt colleagues into the dust! And then the songs, no simple thrashing, but neither any overcomplicated showing off. They use a riff for a bit, if it’s necessary! Plus really gripping stuff, like the psycho-like guitar theme of “Examination” that reminds me of old NASTY SAVAGE pods. Generally the songs bite into your ears and then shake your dandruff out of your hair that it looks like a blizzard.

Only the long break between the breaker “Say Goodbye“ is as unnecessary as the pope’s balls. At least after that we still get a hidden track, a speed version of the Henry Valentino smasher “Im Wagen Vor Mir“. Here Sabrina pukes a duet with Tom Angelripper… Not bad, even though I liked the version of DEN ARSCHGEFICKTEN GUMMIZOFEN (no joke, that’s really their name!) a bit better… Anyways, old school Thrashers will dive into this… (Online August 18, 2005)
