Necrophagia - Harvest Ritual Vol. 1

Because of the very good "Goblins Be Thine" MCD I directly bought the new NECROPHAGIA album "Harvest Ritual Vol. 1” and I have to say: I am disappointed! Not because of the unleashed Death Metal, no, the whole thing sounds as if the producer really fucked up in studio. The riff attacks sound muted, almost as if you would play a vinyl 7-inch on 33 instead of 45.

Imagine POSSESSED’s "Seven Churches" as Doom album and you have a rough idea. Okay for 2-3 songs, but a full album, did we really need this? Wouldn’t there be the eerily spacy keyboard passages, which weave themselves around your brain, I would have kicked the CD into the garbage can right away. Even though, with time you can get acquainted to this album, but it won’t get a truly intense relationship.

Maybe mastermind Killjoy is just a sadistic little arsehole, who is just looking forward to such reactions. Thanks a lot! As said, without the input of Mirai Kawashima of Japanese Black Metallers SIGH the album would have been crucified prematurely. All in all 6.5 points they can build on. (Online August 21, 2005)
