Place Of Skulls - Nailed
The new band of cult guitar player Victor Griffin (DEATHROW/PENTAGRAM-founder member) calls PLACE OF SKULLS and is naturally in the way of pure Doom Metal.

Enriched with an intense Seventies influence, all fans of SABBATH/ST.VITUS/TROUBLE/CATHEDRAL get a proper feast. There is nearly everything right, the songwriting and the ultra tight production. Songs like "The Fall" or "Dead" are totally timeless Doom hymns and belong to the cream of the genre! Or take the tawdry, of some Uptempo TROUBLE reminding "Feeling Of Dread", which kicks ass!

But in my opinion, the cover version of "Don't Let Be Understood" (no idea of whom?) is the most ingenious song. A song, whose original everybody knows but I don't know, who wrote it...much embarrassing, I know. Oh, THE ANIMALS was it, now it's clear to me...This version is naturally...let me say, oh, superb!

Unfortunately the playing time is very short, barely 39 minutes. Though, this record makes a lot of fun and sounds refreshing! The last news said that cult singer Wino of THE OBSSESSED/SAINT VITUS entered PLACE OF SKULLS and also wants to hold the second guitar!!! Additionally Greg Turley is confirmed as bass player. He played also at PENTAGRAM and COUNTERSHAFT. (Online December 8, 2002)
