In recent time bands like INTO ETERNITY or SOILWORK have brought a fresh wind into Death Metal. By using foreign influences the songs of named combos had a certain measured raffinesse. Away from pure blasting and gargling, towards gripping choruses and intricate arrangements.
The Americans of BEYOND THE EMBRACE fall into just that category, just having been signed to Metal Blade USA. On their debut "Against The Elements" they celebrate a strong mix from Sweden-Death a la SOILWORK, AT THE GATES or ARCH ENEMY and Bay-Area-Thrash with slight METALLICA-touch. And this melange works greatly. With a triple-guitar-attack they blow great killer-riffs at your ears, which are almost progressive, but still damn catchy. Especially the thought-through choruses are great and almost have hit-character.
Check-out-tips: the ultra-tight opener "Bastard Screams", the very atmospheric instrumental "Drowning Sun" and the killer "The Bending See". Great debut!
