It seems as though there is an endless supply of bands doing pretty damn close to the same thing as THIS MOMENT is. I don’t think a lot of people, including myself, even know what ‘official’ genre it falls in. I call it Metalcore, because that brings an instant recognition to most people’s minds; you know exactly how the vocals are going to sound and also have a pretty good idea of what the rest of the band is going to be doing. Other possible descriptors include Screamo or Hardcore.

For the majority of “Finding A Voice In The Dark” the listener will hear Metalcore\Hardcore. Interspersed among the shouted anger and breakdowns are some rather catchy clean-sung parts which add a Pop-Punk vibe to the album; I was reminded of BLINK 182 at times, without the sarcasm.

Overall not a terribly bad CD, just nothing terribly original happening here. For fans of the genre this is worth checking out and may emerge as one of the better albums of 2005 …how the hell you’d make that distinction though is beyond me. (Online March 19, 2006)
