Ajattara - Äpäre

AJATTARA is the new home of the former AMORPHIS growler Pasi Koskinen (SHAPE OF DESPAIR, TO SEPARATE THE FLESH FROM THE BONES & ST. MUCUS).The music from the Black Metallic sound of the trio on the fourth work is sophisticated with dark astral keyboard sounds, so it devotes a majestic flair.

In no way the sound is mollycoddled, but enhanced with a horror movie feeling. Mean crushers are rolling down here, a dark armada of groovy, deeply black widescreen pieces, which never falls into a speed-intoxication. Their creeping but also banging compositions are sounding very mature and present AJATTARA in best form.

And it doesn’t matter that the songs are declaimed in Finnish. Here you have trollish Metal at its best, without the drunken Humppa sounds, directly from the suomi woods onto your table! A must for anyone! (Online April 1, 2006)
