Astral Doors - Astralism

The third album “Astralism” of ASTRAL DOORS has hit the bull’s-eye as well. You can’t get music in the vein of DIO, BLACK SABBATH (The Martin-Era) and RAINBOW in a better way nowadays. The classics are already written, but the guys of ASTRAL DOORS manage it to be without any failures during the whole length.

Great tracks like the unusually aggressive opener “EVP” or the godlike “Raiders Of The Ark“, which is already known by the last EP are absolutely kicking-ass tracks like always. The both epic numbers “Tears From A Titan” and especially the superior steamroller „Apocalypse Revealed“ prove that this style isn’t exhausted yet. But watch out. Some tracks are very similar in the riffing/building and the chorus of “Israel” is at least for me a pain in my ass.

Besides they packed up a shovel at their production (Peter Tägtgren), arrangements and power. It should be going with diabolic things, if the name recognition of ASTRAL DOORS won’t rise up immensely after this album and the upcoming tour with BLIND GUARDIAN. (Online April 10, 2006)
