Not for fans of: music that actually matter

Am I a fan of this band and/or style: FUCK NO!!!

Nothing more needs to be said in this review… I am not usually a very narrow-minded person and I believe that good music will always be good music, regardless of style, but even with that in mind I have to make one thing clear – this album sucks!! It’s a joke! Metalcore has taken over the market… these guys aren’t even really Metalcore, they are closer to the Screamo-meets-Nu Metal type of sound. I love bands like SHADOWS FALL, LAMB OF GOD and GOD FORBID, with them I have no qualms, but this is just a weak retro-Nu-Metal (I sincerely hope this doesn’t become a subgenre…) album. No originality, no passion, no heaviness…nothing! I’m sure the scores of SLIPKNOT and MUSHROOMHEAD fans will lap this up, but those of us that know better will stay away!

On a positive note, I have to admit that there are two good things about this album. (1) the production is actually quite good – clear yet crunchy, with a good drum sound and (2) the cover of PANTERA’s “Suicide Note Pt.1” (done as a tribute to Dimebag). The band manages to capture the mood of the original in convincing form and the vocals of Angelo Rissini are very impressive on here (he sounds like a cross between Anselmo (clean vox-wise) and Chris Cornell). This is perhaps one of the best PANTERA covers I’ve ever heard, believe it or not, but apart from these the band just doesn’t come up with the goods!

I want REAL Metal and this is NOT it!!
