One of my all-time favourite songs is "A Dying Wish" by ANATHEMA. It's just fantastic, very romantic, emotional, still heavy… brilliant. I never knew there was a band that had a whole album like that…
I was familiar with LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE's album "Burning: A Wish", an album that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I had been searching for other material by this German band. A friend of mine sent me a CD-R of their album "Memorandum", but I never got to listen to it, and purchase-addictive as I am I bought "Memorandum" without even taken the CD-R from its case. Now I wish I had done this earlier… The intro to this review was not written cause I just felt like it, the music that LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE plays on "Memorandum" is just a half inch short of godly. From minute one I got caught in an web of dark emotions, that only makes you yearn for a longer stay. Why do I never hear people mention LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE? Believe me, they are downright brilliant!! They are what ANATHEMA was, but better! Musically superb, great clean and growling vocals… "Memorandum" is such an album that you can listen to every moment of the day, every moment you want to be carried away to distant lands where the happenings in the world can't reach you, where you are truly free! Just play "A Dying Wish", want more of that? Get "Memorandum"!!
If there is one band that needs to be introduced to the masses right now, it must be LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE. With their freshest album, "Burning: A Wish" (I will spare myself the trouble of writing a review for it, and you reading it, as Alex wrote it already, I'd just like to add 1 point to the score making it a 9.0) and even more so with this album, "Memorandum", they prove to be one of the best acts that Doom Metal has to offer us!
