Inhumate - The Fifth Season

This is INHUMATE’s 5th album, the group having been formed in 1990.

What struck me upon listening to this release was CEPHALIC CARNAGE, except without any of the oddball humor that said group can bring to the table. There are some parts where the vocalist drops into this low, low growl, sort of sounding like Will from MORTICIAN. Otherwise, what you have is your standard sounding USA-styled Death/Grind, with a bit of Hardcore Punk influence. The one thing is, these guys are from France, which I’ll admit surprised me a bit, considering their sound.

The vocals tend to be all over the place, certainly one of the more erratic performances I’ve ever heard. Shame that the music itself isn’t more erratic, this could’ve been something very memorable. Instead, it chooses to play it safe, so it earns the score that goes with this option.
