But what a fuck is happening at Merciless'? Did they cut on the 'artwork' budget or what? After the very ugly one on the BURIED GOD CD, this new SCEPTER album receives a very cheap and ridiculous one, that must have cost at least one Euro.
Anyway…let's get on what this American trio proposes us! When you the see the cleverness of the title, and if you know them a bit, you'll easily understand that SCEPTER are a band that love clichés, and for whom the word 'originality' doesn't mean shit. They're a bit like MANOWAR on that aspect! SCEPTER then play good old school US Thrash Metal like in the early 80's, and their sound is exactly like at that time… and concerning comparisons, the first one that came into my sick mind was WHIPLASH, because SCEPTER are a bit like them, a second league band, playing for the fun of it, and that we finally all love a bit.
Else, it evokes the old bands a bit like DREAMS OF DAMNATION. And with some beers and some friends, it will allow you to have a cool evening! (Online May 24, 2003)
