I don't understand what it is about this album but it does seriously hit the spot. It is bloody awesome! With nothing new or original this album still manages to sound fresh, exciting, inspired and most importantly fucking brutal. Vocally the band are in that over the top guttural extremity category comparable with bands like SEVERE TORTURE and DISGORGE yet the music has very little elements of Goregrind in it. Their riffing is a lot more technical and varied with tempos ranging from lightspeed to slow and stomping and the style lends more to Thrash and good old fashioned Death Metal yet with a lot of added brutality.
The drums are intense as their skinsman is ex-DESTROYER 666 and current SINISTER member Eric. The guitars are loaded with grooving riffs and there is enough variation and tempo change to prevent even those who suffer from ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) from getting bored. The variation in the vocals helps in this department as the overly low guttural vocals often interact with good screamwork to compliment and add some dynamics to the album.
With each track as solid, brutal and enjoyable as the next i wholeheartedly recommend this to fans of Brutal Death Metal and grooving Death Metal. This should appeal to fans of DYING FETUS and even those who aren't as it is that damn good. (Online September 8, 2003)
