This album was an immediate success, showing the true genius of Pete Steele. Forming in New York, this powerhouse foursome rumbled through two releases before finally reaching the big times with "Bloody Kisses."

The album starts out with some homo-erotic overtones between two women...sounds good, doesn't it? "Christian Woman" kicks off this spectacular release, slugging along with excellent layers of vocals and keys. The song then shifts into a mellow acoustic section, quite calm actually. It sounds wussy, but it paints a beautiful picture. The song takes a brief adventure with this part, but quickly turns into a heavy, powerful riff, putting the song into a very powerful twist.

Next, "Black No.1" enters thy ears. A catchy bass-line with small percussionary sounds accompany Steele's dark vocals. Drums and keys later assist the effort and then the guitars enter and complete the awkwardness that is TYPE O NEGATIVE. This is a good live opener, it gives all of the musicians good entrances for all of you air-guitarists in hope of a legendary, overnight Metal-success!

Throughout the album, the band throws you into dimension after dimension. They are one of, if not the, most original act to come out of America (Objection, your Honour! - Alex). Well, this is a review so I guess you want some comparisons, huh? Well, I'll tell you this much, they kick the shit out of LACRIMOSA. Oh, yeah, good point, every band kicks the shit out of that Gothic Boy George-looking, butt-jumping, 50's sock-hop inspired, daisy of a vocalist that leads that pathetic band (Ehm, could it be that you are not the very biggest fan of LACRIMOSA? Just a wild guess... - Alex)! Honestly, they have a BLACK SABBATH- and DANZIG-texture, alongside some Gothic input. All in all, it's a wonderful blend, capable of being my second favourite band! Be smart, buy this!

Note: I apologize to any LACRIMOSA-fan. I just happened to see a Nuclear Blast-video-tape full of band's videos. I watched a video by this band, and it ruined my life. They could very well be a great band, but as for that song, ouch!
