Without a doubt the Swedes of SKYFIRE at least have heard of the existence of bands like CHILDREN OF BODOM before... A cross between melodic Power Metal and some heavier infusions, quite extensive keyboards and a truly harsh voice is not the most original invention anymore...
So what has this quintet to offer us? Well, you can hear the potential in songs like "The Universe Unveils", "From Here To Death" or "Skyfire", yet somehow "Timeless Departure" doesn't appear to be fully cohesive. Apart from the fact that I just don't get along with Henrik Wenngren's voice at all, the keyboards are to far in the fore at some occasions, and sometimes they seem to try to put too much into a song.
Packed into a great Abyss-production, this debut is a good beginning to build on, but nothing more...
