Townsend, Devin - Infinity
Devin Townsend never and I mean NEVER fails to amaze me. His creative state of mind truly knows no bounds. He's definitely way ahead of his time. He has a specific style all his own. Either you love it, or you hate it.

It took no time at all for "Infinity" to be put to the top of my list of best Devin Townsend album. So far that is. I'm still missing a few, so we'll see what happens after I buy those.

Part of me is beginning to wonder if it's possible for Devin to release something that turns out to be a complete bomb. As of now, in my opinion, it isn't. The man is just sheer genius.

Although heavy, I found "Infinity" to be quite relaxing. In a weird, complicated way that is. I think the majority of this feeling is due to Devin's vocal style. His clean-cut voice blends in well with the crunching guitars and various sound effects. Townsend always finds great ways to incorporate different sounds into his music without over doing it. The use of these effects tied all of the other elements in the album together.

"Infinity" is another "must have" album to add to the constantly growing pile of the astonishing works of Devin Townsend.

How does he do it? The world may never know. (Online January 19, 2004)
