Holy steel, did I reach for the wrong CD? I hear grunts and I already think about to take the CD out of my player again. But see there, the obligatory Gerrit Mutz-vocals are setting in and I am finally sure that I have the correct CD in my player. And it is not bad what I hear, quite the contrary!
The current epos of the guys show SACRED STEEL in absolute top-form! Their faible for American bands like OMEN, AGENT STEEL or HALLOWS EVE clearly shines through. Still you have to attest SACRED STEEL their own style! Especially the vocals of Gerrit are unmistakeable and are somehow obscure! But this is good, because I absolutely share his liking of eccentric and obscure Metal. We get grenades like "Sacred Bloody Steel" (reminds me of TRAGEDY DIVINE) or the fast "Crush The Holy, Save The Damned" (unfortunately only as bonus-track!) and the long, epic "Invocation Of The Nameless Ones" (greetings from MANILLA ROAD). I'd like to point out these three songs, because they by far are the best SACRED STEEL-songs that I know. OK, I still think that the TRAGEDY DIVINE-album "Visions Of Power" from 1994, the predecessor-band of SACRED STEEL, is still unsurpassed, but with "Slaughter Prophecy" they have created an almost equal hammer.
The songs just sound fresh, variable and always straight ahead! They fire their Metal-clichés at the hungry ears of the true Metalheads! The guys live, breathe and shit Metal, I really think so! I don't care, because here the pure steel reigns supreme and every headbanger has his ultimate fodder. This is not only the heaviest album by SACRED STEEL so far, but also their best! Definitively a fist in the face of the True-lala combos, which are as Metal as the pink fluff-slippers of my grandma! RAISE THE METAL FIST FOR SACRED BLOODY STEEL!!!
