Here is another Finnish band that has graduated from the school of BODOM right behind NORTHER and SKYFIRE (I know that they are from Sweden). These youngsters release their debut album full of flashy guitar work and drench their songs with an overabundance of neo-classical keyboards. The voice of Aleksi remains just as harsh as Alexi's.
“Blade“ is a good eye opener of what to expect from these young lads. The song is composed well. There is plenty of energy going on here and it's not boring. Like I said, it has been done to death by now, but I can cut these guys some slack as this is their first time out. “Memories To Dust“ tries to ease up on the neo thing and go more for the jugular which it does, but the guys can't help but mix their raw sounds with neo-classical elements which makes up this band. The songs remain consistent and are entertaining. It is when you get to “Hollow Man“ where we get some clean pipes tossed in the with agro vocals. This track really stands out and I wish they could have done more songs in that manor because they are more original sounding and break the BODOM mould. You will also hear tinges of IN FLAMES with “Rhythm Of Pain.“ The song still rocks out and continues to be lively.
The band exercises a lot of potential with this release. The performances from each member is flawless. The production is clear as a bell and the band shows a lot of potential. I think that with the next release they should shoot for a different producer who may not have heard of or like COB and take the band in a more original direction as they have the skills to do it.
