Taken directly from their biography: “…should appeal to fans of early MORBID ANGEL and SLAYER as much as those of later SATYRICON and IMMORTAL.“ It could be truer than that. STRAPPING YOUNG LAD is also a name that comes to mind, as the level of intensity found on this new album from SUMMON isn’t that far from “Alien”, the latest Townsend and Co. insanity. This album should be the one that will put SUMMON on the map! Their music is now leaning toward true Death Metal influence, brutal Death in fact.
No compromise, fast and furious, the incisive guitar riffs will impale your body without warning, nailing you to the wall, asking for mercy. Even though the wall of noise is quite atrocious, the songs sound really focused and the talent of the band transpires throughout the album. They know how to be brutal, ferocious and vile, without compromising the structure of a song. It may lack melodies, but fans of this style don’t want melodies, they want pure aggression and “Fallen” delivers that.
The album production is phenomenal! You will think that this band has been in the Metal world forever… and don’t even wonder how the 5.1 mix of the album (offered with the 5,000 first sold copies) will sound on a home theater system… you have tapestry to remove from your wall? “Fallen” is for you!
