Who always thought that Metal, especially Thrash Metal, was music for proletarians, should check out NOCTURNAL BREED’s second long player "No Retreat...No Surrender“. If antisocial, then really antisocial. Best known member of the quartet had been Silenoz of DIMMU BORGIR (here operating under the pseudonym Ed Damnator). But some should also know Destroyer (aka Svartalv, ex GEHENNA).
And what did the band have to offer musically? Great, Black-ish Thrash Metal of the early/mid 80s is the answer. Not a clone band like INFERNÖ or CRANIUM, but in direct neighbourhood of WITCHERY, BEWITCHED, DESASTER and DEVIL LEE ROT. Does anybody ask about technical abilities? Shit on it, this is all about “good friendly violent fun“ and the fun factor is hellish! The band breaks through undergrowth in best tradition of DARKNESS, VIOLENT FORCE, DEATHROW, WARRANT (Germany) and lands punch after punch.
Cool songs, catchy riff attacks, shout-along choruses, ridiculous but great lyrics… The spirit of the 80s has been captured almost perfectly. This is a pure Metal party: Drink, fuck, bang, chains and leather, then drink again, puke, lick a pussy, babble and all the while listen to Metal, the simple and aggressive stuff. Oh yeah, there also is a TWISTED SISTER cover version of "Under The Blade". Good stuff! (Online March 3, 2006)
