BATTLEROAR were formed in September of 2000 in Athens, Greece just for a simple reason, to play the music they like! The music influences of the band is Power/Epic/Classic Metal (mostly from the 80's) in the veins of MANILLA ROAD, OMEN, CIRITH UNGOL, BROCAS HELM, HEAVY LOAD, JAG PANZER etc.
After a year of rehearsing they decided to record a promo CD, in November of 2001, which contains 5 songs and is actually a live recording of a rehearsal.
The great and positive response brought the band again in the studio to record a self financed 7" single in March of 2002, which contains two tracks, the title track "Dragonship" and "Swordbrothers". Some months after this release two new members joined the band. Marco Concoreggi (vocals) and Kostas Makrikostas (bass) gave the band a new potential.
In the meantime the band has performed many shows with some local and foreign bands. Among them as a support band to the legends, MANILLA ROAD, OMEN and BROCAS HELM!!!
In March of 2003, they entered the studio for the recordings of their first full-length album. During the next -full of hard work- months, everything is done. Kenny Powell from OMEN contributed to that by participating in one of the songs. The final result justifies the expectations of the band and reaches the standards they were trying to achieve.
The album was released at the end of August, under the label of Omicron Music Productions
