Having recruited Arkhaan,the band was already undertaking a path of the extreme that was exploited by only few bands here in Quebec. The only thing missing was a fast and reliable drummer, also dedicated to Black Metal, in order to finally put UNQUINTESSENCE's fury in action. In January 2000, Scythrawl (also in TRAILS OF ANGUISH) was recruited and thus completed the circle. With the addition of Scythrawl, many aspects, whether it be conceptual or musical, were altered in a better way. Two years later (2002), after numerous shows and promotional efforts, it was obvious that we need a fifth element to our crew, a second guitarist. It didn't took much time before Ill-Fate, a long time comrade (who also played session bass live with TRAILS OF ANGUISH), joined our ranks.

Extreme Black Metal, pure and simple, and it describes us the most. We're talking here about intense musical schizophrenia generated by everyday life's fatality and repugnance, that is spit directly in our faces, and in which the common human seem to take shelter and found illusion of joy. This concept seem so erroneous to us and our only hope of evolution reside in an absolute refusal of that very same concept. And we surely aren't seeking answers in any kind of satanic, vampires and such perceptions, that are to us, utterly futile and senseless.

The music of UNQUINTESSENCE will evolve in a great way with time, as the difference will already be felt with the newest compositions, following our 1st EP, called "Ruined", which is a relentless hearing aggression. Although we will continue in the same manner, our music will become more hybrid-like, and by the same means, strangely disturbing. The result will add more to the chaotic side of our compositions. It is only a frenetic beginning of things worst to come.
