Gothic Fate - Seduction
Germany's latest Power Metal-newcomer listens to the name of GOTHIC FATE, a name that I would not have immediately connected with Power Metal, though. And the cover looks a lot like Royo… Anyhow, a really good one (even though I like the drawing on the back even more…).

So, as far as I know, "Seduction" is the first full CD of these five folks from Hamburg and I must say that they are good, really good indeed! Judging from the pictures they do seem to be pretty young still, yet that does not show in their compositions at all, which basically are located somewhere between Melodic and Power Metal, yet despite having a keyboarder in their line-up, the guitars still are nicely to the fore.

From the very beginning I'm really impressed by the maturity of the songs, which show a great level of balance between heaviness, melody and some certain dramatics, everything topped off with top-notch musicianship, very good vocals (two singers even!) and a nicely powerful production. So all in all a very round mix, don't you think?

12 complete songs await us here and there basically is not a single song that I would consider a real drop off, the overall level of quality is really remarkable for a young band since you also can actually distinguish the songs from each other, you have to like them for this already :)

I am not really sure, how deeply into single songs I should go, because of that, for I could write and write and…you get what I mean… So I will keep it at tracks for you to check out, so take "Down On Your Knees", "Black Knight", "All Systems Failed" or "Across The Sea". Yes, GOTHIC FATE do NOT sound like them all, support that!

So the main assets of these folks are the excellent vocalist(s), the very flowing and very good songs, cool guitar melodies, enough crunch, so let me ask you one little question: If you like this style, what are you still doing sitting here, reading this instead of getting "Seduction"? See, so now…go, get it! Yes, also you label reps! (Online December 6, 2002)
