Does anyone have a favorite label? For me there are labels that seem to consistently release good music, discover new artists, and create complete CD and/or Vinyl packages that are worth spending my hard-earned money on.

My favorite at the moment is Rise Above Records. With artists such as The Gates Of Slumber, EZlectric Wizard, Grand Magus, Cathedral, and now Church Of Misery, these guys really have a knack for music that is both well-written and heavy. Their releases are packages well, and they release almost everything on both CD and vinyl. They are based in the UK, so ordering direct can become expensive if, like me, you live in North America. However, they have pretty good distribution here, which helps lower the price.

I would also give Honorable Mention to Profound Lore Records.

Anyone?

I'm impressed with Earache lately. For a while they somewhat dropped off my radar but with their recent accumulation of some very awesome Thrash bands they have suddenly spurred my allegiance lately.

Instant Buys:

Profound Lore
Bindrune Recordings

Probably Wants:

Hell's Headbangers
No Colours
Red Stream
Northern Heritage
Ibex Moon Records

Most of the "big name" independent labels may have a few good acts, but mostly the line-up is chalk full of flavor of the moment bands funding them.

Agreed. See the thread on Aeternam - great band, great release. I was very surprised to see them on Metal Blade, but as noted int the thread, the bulk of that Metal(core) Blade's stable is stuff that is more commercially accessible that provides the cashflow for some of the more off-the-beaten-path bands.
