Does anybody else agree that the French are churning out some great metal these days?

Just to name a few:

Gojira
Hacride
Trepalium
Benighted
Demians
Gorod
Pitbulls in the Nursery

I bring this up because I just heard this band called Clampdown - crappy name, I know - but the music was really cool.

Makes me proud to be a frog. :colourwave:

For Trad/Power Metal fans, don't forget Lonewolf and Heavenly. Both good, though quite different bands.

I have recently been listening to some atmospheric stuff from Les Discrets and Alcest. It is not easy to find some equally touching and melancholic music works.

Several French bands do great Black Metal with folk influences. Aes Dana are great, and both Aldaaron (who I have just reviewed) and Belenos have their moments. The Symphonic Extreme/Black Metal of Anorexia Nervosa can also be enjoyable at times.
